Ukraine records 5,334 COVID-19 cases per day, 13,850 people recovered - Stepanov

As of Tuesday morning, some 5,334 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease were recorded in Ukraine, some 13,850 people recovered, some 123 patients died, Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said.

"Some 5,334 new cases of COVID-19 disease were recorded in Ukraine as of January 5, 2021. In particular, 164 children and 362 medical workers fell ill. Some 1,280 people were hospitalized, some 202 people died and some 13,850 people recovered over the past day," Stepanov wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

A day earlier, on January 4, the minister informed about 4,158 new cases; while 4,576 cases were reported on January 3; there were 5,038 new infections in Ukraine on January 2; some 9,432 new cases were recorded on January 1; some 9,699 new cases were recorded on December 31.

The number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic on Tuesday morning was 1.084 people, some 19,129 people died from COVID-19, and some 747,408 people recovered.

Over the past day, the largest number of confirmed cases was registered in Kyiv city (846), Odesa (682), Zaporizhia (418), Cherkasy (376) and Poltava (376) regions.
