Ukrenergo head, EBRD discuss corporatization, corporate governance reforms

Head of Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk, EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux and new EBRD Regional Director Matteo Patrone have discussed reforms in the electricity sector in Ukraine, in particular, the progress in enterprise certification and corporatization.

According to the press service of Ukrenergo, Kovalchuk informed the partners about the current situation with the company's corporatization and expressed hope that the approved members of the Ukrenergo supervisory board would start working in the near future and create preconditions for the further sustainable development of the company in the interests of the state and consumers.

According to the EBRD Vice President, the corporatization and unbundling of Ukrenergo should be carried out in accordance with the law on the electricity market, the Third Energy Package and the existing requirements for financing agreements on the part of the EBRD.

"All this significantly influences the further progress of the new electricity market model in Ukraine as a whole. Thanks to the current team of top managers, Ukrenergo has successfully used the last several years and become one of the key partners in Ukraine for international financial institutions and the EBRD in particular. We consider this company the main driver of reforms in the electricity market in Ukraine," Alain Pilloux stated.
