Klimkin hopes Budapest will hold constructive talks within NATO

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said he hopes for the constructive position of the Hungarian side as part of NATO on the alliance's interaction with Ukraine.

"Tomorrow, Mr. [Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter] Szijjarto will meet with NATO Secretary General [Jens Stoltenberg] ... We are saying that although Hungarian policy does not concern the blocking of substantive things, but nevertheless no one needs this symbolism, including Hungary. I hope the Hungarian side will conduct constructive negotiations within NATO," Klimkin said after a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart in Warsaw on Wednesday.

At the same time, Klimkin stressed that Ukraine, in cooperation with Hungary, would firmly and consistently defend its state interests.

"Not to fight with Hungary, but to promote our interests. We will work together where it is possible, and we will speak further where we cannot [work together]," he said.
