112 Ukraine TV channel says Rada request to NSDC about imposing sanctions on it is politically motivated

The 112 Ukraine TV channel has said the resolution supported by Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) requesting sanctions be imposed on companies listed as owners of the 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels is politically motivated.

"The situation is that this is a politically motivated act and very expensive public relations of several political forces involving 229 Rada deputies [who on Thursday voted for the measure], the majority of whom are frequent guests on our TV channels," 112 Ukraine General Producer Artem Marchevsky said, adding that his TV channel operates as professionally as possible, objectively and efficiently, as evidenced by TV ratings.

As earlier reported, the Rada on Thursday recommended the NSDC impose sanctions against companies included in the holdings of the 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels.

The corresponding resolution (No. 9157) was approved by 229 parliament deputies during a plenary Rada session.

According to the resolution, sanctions should apply to Ariadna TV LLC, Novy Format TV LLC, TV Vybir LLC, Teleradiokompaniya 112-TV LLC, Lider TV LLC, Partner TV LLC and Novyny 24 Hodyny LLC.

According to information on the TV channels' websites, Novyny 24 Hodyny LLC is listed among the owners of NewsOne. The remaining six legal entities are included among the holdings of 112 Ukraine.
