Moldova interested in expanding joint border control with Ukraine - minister

Moldova is interested in expanding joint control of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, Moldova's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi has said.

"I want to thank our Ukrainian friends for close cooperation with a view to improving security in the central Transdniestrian section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, in particular, through joint control at the Kuchurhan-Pervomaisc checkpoint," Ulianovschi said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"The Republic of Moldova is also interested in expanding such control at other border checkpoints, opening passenger traffic at the Unguri-Bronnytsia checkpoint and the construction of a new bridge across the Dniester near Cosauti and Yampil," he added.

According to Ulianovschi, this will help solve many problems for citizens of both countries.
