Heads of consular services of Ukraine, Moldova discuss possibility of introducing border crossing regime using ID-cards

Director of the Consular Service Department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Serhiy Pohoreltsev and Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Sergiu Odainic have discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement on the crossing of ID-cards by citizens of Ukraine and Moldova.

Bilateral consultations on consular and legal issues at the level of the heads of consular services of Ukraine and Moldova took place in Chisinau on October 2, the department of consular service said on Facebook.

"During the talks, a wide range of consular issues was considered in the context of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of both countries ... The parties also discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement on the crossing of the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border by citizens of both countries on the basis of ID-cards and including by children of minority age," the message reads.

As reported, on September 19, the Ukrainian government approved an agreement with Georgia on trips by ID cards. The document provides that citizens of Ukraine will be able to visit Georgia on the basis of internal passports in the form of ID cards, which contain a contactless electronic media.
