Law on increasing number of CEC members comes into force

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law amending Article 6 of the law on the Central Election Commission (CEC), which increases the CEC composition from 15 to 17 members, and the law has already been published in the official press.

According to the parliament's website, the document was returned with the president's signature on September 19, 2018.

The law has already been published in the parliament's Holos Ukrainy newspaper.

The document enters into force from the day of its publication.

According to the parliamentary agenda published on Thursday, at an evening plenary session people's deputies plan to dismiss CEC members whose term of office expired and appoint new CEC members.

As reported, on September 18, the Verkhovna Rada increased the composition of the Central Election Commission from 15 to 17 members.
