Poroshenko assigns state scholarships to Olympics medalists

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has assigned state scholarships to three bronze medalists of the Olympic Games of past years.

According to decree No. 17/2018 of January 29, which was published on the official website of the head of state, scholarships were awarded to the prizewinners of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, rower Serhiy Bilouschenko and archer Dmytro Hrachov, as well as a prizewinner of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Greco-Roman wrestler Armen Vardanyan.

The size of the state scholarship is determined by the decree in the amount of three living wages.

The living wage in Ukraine, according to the state budget for 2018, is set at UAH 1,700 from January 1, 2018, UAH 1,777 from July 1, and UAH 1,853 from December 1.

The exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine on January 29 was UAH 28.549 per U.S. dollar.
