President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has congratulated the Lithuanian people on the national holiday - Day of Restoration of Lithuania.

"I heartily congratulate you on the 99th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian statehood. Our statehood and its protection is our common foundation for our fraternal peoples that lead Ukraine and Lithuania to victory, development and prosperity in the common European family," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He noted that Ukraine feels the companionship of Lithuania.

"We are grateful to Lithuania for a daily political support and invaluable practical assistance," the president said.
