Kyiv patrol policemen to take free English courses organized by British Council, U.S. Embassy

Some 600 patrol policemen in Kyiv will learn English with teachers from the British Council Ukraine for free.

2016 was the year of the English language in Ukraine and this year a lot of interesting projects have started, including the 'English for Patrol Police' project, British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough said when launching the project in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Gough said 14 teachers of the British Council Ukraine will be involved in the seven-month English language course for Kyiv patrol police officers.

For her part, the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said this program will help the police in their everyday work and will improve Ukraine's image abroad.

The course is designed for 120 academic hours per person. Police officers will learn English during their nonworking hours.

The project is financed by the British Council Ukraine together with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine with the organization support of the Capital English NGO. The National Police of Ukraine and Kyiv City State Administration are partners of the project.
