Verkhovna Rada ratifies agreements on military burials with Czech Republic, Slovakia
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified agreements between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Slovakia on military burials.
A total of 248 MPs voted in favor of approving draft law No. 0056 on the ratification of the agreement with the Czech Republic, and 240 MPs voted in favor of draft law No. 0057 on the ratification of the agreement with Slovakia.
According to explanatory documents to the draft laws, their approval will further the creation of the legislative grounds required for the implementation of a campaign to honor the memory of war victims, preserve burial sites, and improve the relations of Ukraine with the countries.
Ukraine signed the agreement on military burials with the Czech Republic on October 21, 2013 in Kyiv, with Slovakia – on June 17, 2011 in Bratislava.
