Construction in Mykilska Slobidka district in Kyiv frozen until constructor and residents agree district development plan

Construction of Sun Riviera residential complex in Mykilska Slobidka residential micro-district in Dniprovsky district of Kyiv has been frozen, Kyiv City Administration reported on Tuesday, referring to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

"At present, after my urgent address to the constructor, construction process here [at 1, Mykilska Slobidka Street] has been frozen. Until the constructor presents the revised detailed plan on development of the shore and the adjacent micro-district, discusses it with local residents, there will not be construction here!" Klitschko said.

As reported, referring to Kyiv City Administration, in late April 2015 Klitschko asked First Deputy Prosecutor of Kyiv Oleh Valendiuk to check permits for construction at 1, Mykilska Slobidka Street.

The head of the initiative group for the recreational area of the left bank of the Dnipro River in Mykilska Slobidka, Anatoliy Shapoval, said on July 20, 2015 that the project to build the Sun Riviera residential complex at 1 Mykilska Slobidka Street in the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv, which was launched by Ukrbud State Corporation (Kyiv) in spring 2014, has led to the emergence of cracks in the nearby residential houses and the Sukhomlynsky Lyceum building, and 11 violations of Ukrainian legislation were uncovered during the realization of the project.

He also said that in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, the main cathedral of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and the only cathedral in Eastern Europe, along with cracks in walls and floor, groundwater surge was registered due to cracks in the basement of the cathedral.

"The developer is supported by "Russian money," those businessmen from the inner circle of [former President of Ukraine Viktor] Yanukovych, who are now in Moscow, and Russian capital," he said.

Earlier MP Boryslav Bereza said that at night on July 19 a group of unknown persons cut and removed mobile lawmaker receiving offices that blocked the entrance to the construction site of Ukrbud.
