PGO has no claims against ex-deputy prosecutor Danylenko– Shokin

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) no longer has claims against the former deputy prosecutor general Anatoliy Danylenko and an inquiry into the criminal proceeding launched by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) over allegations of ecocide has been brought to a halt, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin has said.

"As soon as Nalyvaichenko [former SBU chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko] said that ex-deputy prosecutor general Danylenko [was] involved in the machinations and deals and is the co-owner of BRSM oil depot, we opened a criminal case over these issues. Today it has been found out that Danylenko isn't a co-founder and no deals [were] concluded," Shokin said in an interview with a number of TV channels in Kyiv on Friday.

He stressed: "A case opened under so-called ecocide was closed, it was launched unreasonably. Today we have no questions to Danylenko."

As reported, on June 12, Nalyvaichenko said that former a Deputy Prosecutor General had received illegal income from BRSM-Nafta oil depot and was in fact a co-owner of the depot.

On Monday, Nalyvaichenko named the former official – Anatoliy Danylenko, who said on Ukrainian TV that he would sue Nalyvaichenko for slander.
