Finnish president urges 'maximum efforts' to settle Ukraine conflict

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto on Tuesday called for "maximum efforts" to settle the conflict in Ukraine.

"Everyone should make maximum efforts to achieve piece in Ukraine and eliminate tensions that exist in relations between Russia and the West," Niinisto said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"This international situation has affected our bilateral trade and economic relations," Niinisto said.

He said both Russia and Finland see the Minsk agreements as the only possible solution to the Ukrainian crisis.

He also said both countries are active at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. "We will continue such work and such participation," he said.
