Poroshenko instructs Kyrylenko to urgently set up HQ to deal with oil depot fire near Kyiv

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed acting Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko to urgently set up a headquarters to take charge of the clean-up operation at the fire-stricken oil depot in the Vasylkivsky district of Kyiv region, presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko said on Facebook on Tuesday.

"The president instructed Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, who currently fulfills the prime minister's duties, to immediately set up a headquarters to deal with the consequences of the catastrophe in Vasylkiv, as well as assess the industrial safety of all facilities and reinforce their safety systems," he said.

According to Tseholko, in the morning Poroshenko listened to the report of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and dispatched National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov to Vasylkiv to organize security measures for civil and military personnel if an evacuation is required.

Turchynov was also instructed to ensure public information on the ongoing situation.

On June 8-10, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk is on a working visit to the United States.
