As a part of the administrative and territorial reform of Ukraine it is planned to create 750 territorial communities instead of 468 districts, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Hennadiy Zubko has said.

"We have 468 districts now. There is a proposal that a total of 750 communities are created, which will be more accessible for the provision of administrative services," Zubko told reporters on February 13.

He said that decentralization should be considered at the level of regional councils to define how communities which could develop in the future are created. The deputy prime minister said that the Cabinet of Ministers plans to open offices of authorized government representatives in each regional center and their task will be working out of an algorithm to create the communities.

"Plans are ambitious. We need to discuss the issue in the regional centers, open offices of authorized representatives of the government so that we are able to send consultants from the European Union," he said.
