Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will meet with Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz during her visit to Ukraine on January 19.

He said this during a telephone conversation with Kopacz on Friday, the presidential press service reported.

Poroshenko also thanked Kopacz for the effective implementation of the agreements reached during his recent state visit to Poland on December 17-18, 2014. He also noted the dynamics of bilateral military-technical cooperation and cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.

"We are sincerely grateful for the humanitarian assistance that the Polish government and Polish non-governmental organizations have been providing to Ukraine. It was very symbolic when persons displaced from Donbas to Kharkiv region received the most essential humanitarian aid from Poland," the president said.

In addition, he expressed his gratitude for Poland's support for Ukraine at the last meeting of the European Council, where the Polish prime minister voiced the initiative to promote the organization of further humanitarian assistance under the auspices of the EU.

"Petro Poroshenko also drew Kowacz's attention to the need to increase the level of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine by the EU," reads the statement.

The sides also discussed the situation in Donbas. Poroshenko condemned the actions of militants who, despite the ceasefire, continue shelling Ukrainian positions, as well as continued supply of weapons, fighters and military equipment from the Russian border.

"It looks awful, especially at a time when the whole world, the whole of Europe, including Ukraine and Poland, sympathize with the victims of the terrorist attack that took place in Paris on January 7 and sympathize with the people who have currently become hostages of terrorists," Poroshenko said.
