According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, 224 members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were held captive by militants as of October 8, 2014, Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei has said.

"As for those people who are in captivity, 224 [servicemen], according to our information, are currently in captivity," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.
