The Ukrainian government should concentrate on carrying out strategic reforms despite the ongoing political crisis, acting Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said in opening a Cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"Ukraine is experiencing quite a difficult political time. Political problems need to be resolved without being distracted from the principal things: the country needs economic change. No matter how the situation develops and whatever the government format is, it should be addressing the issue of reforms," he said.

The principal reforms the government should prioritize budget stabilization, the simplification and modernization of the taxation procedures, the ridding of all government bodies of corruption, the reduction of government expenditures, further deregulation and the energy market's reform, he said.

"This is the basic list of reforms without which the country won't be able to move ahead. I stress: in my view, this list is universal," he said.
