Ukraine could join another five international agreements of Customs Union, says Trade Ministry

Ukraine could join another five international agreements of the Customs Union.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the government made the decision at a meeting on October 30.

At the meeting on October 30 the authority reviewed four agreements - on the order of applying special protective, antidumping and countervailing measures during the transitional period (of November 19, 2010), and on sanitary, biosecurity and plant quarantine measures (all three documents are dated December 11, 2009). In addition, the government reviewed the protocol on providing the authority, which is conducting an investigation, with information containing confidential data for the purposes of investigation, which precede the introduction of special protective, antidumping and countervailing measures against third countries (November 19, 2010).

The press service explained that the agreement on special protective, antidumping and countervailing measures defines the order of applying the existing national measures to protect the domestic market of the Customs Union states.

Three more agreements are developed to provide the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population of the Customs Union member states and protect its customs territory from the imports and spread of communicable and non-communicable diseases among the population, or quarantine harmful organisms and products that do not meet the phytosanitary quarantine requirements of Customs Union member states.
