Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski is planning to visit former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv on Thursday.

The EU Delegation to Ukraine confirmed to Interfax-Ukraine that the ambassador left for Kharkiv on Thursday to visit the ex-premier.

"He plans to come to Tymoshenko on Thursday," the delegation told Interfax-Ukraine, when asked about the reliability of such information.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine that U.S. Ambassador John Tefft also left for Kharkiv to meet with the former Ukrainian prime minister.

The State Penitentiary Service was unavailable for comment.

As reported, the State Penitentiary Service earlier informed the diplomats that the answer to their appeal would be given immediately after the May holidays, but no answer has been given so far.

Tombinski and Tefft visited Tymoshenko in hospital last year.
