Chairman of the European Parliament's Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Pawel Kowal has called on the Ukrainian authorities and the opposition to work together for the country's successful integration into the European Union.

"I'm calling on the authorities to unite with the opposition and on the opposition to unite with the authorities. I know this is very difficult, but there are moments in history when you need to work a lot to show citizens that their choice can be successful," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine during a break in the 6th Kyiv Security Forum "Security in a Insecure World," which was organized by Arseniy Yatseniuk's Open Ukraine Foundation.

Kowal said that most Ukrainians had in the last parliamentary elections voted for political parties that support the European integration course of the country.

"And now they have the right to demand concrete actions from the authorities and the opposition," the MEP said.

Kowal also welcomed the fact that the Verkhovna Rada, despite different political issues, had started working successfully in the adoption of the legislation needed for further European integration.
