241 lawmakers ask opposition not to split society and parliament
A total of 241 lawmakers are ready to work constructively in parliament and call on their colleagues from the opposition to stop communicating by means of ultimatums and blackmail.
"We, people's deputies of Ukraine, who have signed this address, are as outraged as you are that the Verkhovna Rada, instead of fruitful legislative work, is constantly facing attempts to block [its work], hearing ultimatums and extremist appeals. We are similarly outraged that instead of taking laws which are necessary for people and which would help take the country out of the crisis, improve living conditions and safeguard constitutional rights and freedoms of the citizens of Ukraine, they put forth in parliament proposals that split society, divide it according to linguistic, ethnic and religious characteristics," reads an address by 241 MPs to the public, which was posted on the Rada's Web site on Wednesday.
