Yanukovych hopes for review of WTO terms, deeper IMF cooperation

Ukraine expects to continue cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and positive negotiations with the World Trade Organization (WTO), President Viktor Yanukovych said.

"We're counting on deeper cooperation with international financial institutions - the IMF and World Bank - and for positive talks with the WTO on proposals to take our national interests into consideration in international trade," the president's press office quoted Yanukovych as saying during a Cabinet meeting on Monday.

Priorities for next year are still to develop the real sector and domestic market, furthering the policy of deregulation, above all reducing business costs.

The agriculture sector needs reforming, with the introduction of effective forms of farming, development of the cooperative movement and modern government aid for farmers.

"The organization of the social sphere needs to be improved while the budget is tight, and social spending has to be more targeted in nature. Budget reforms related to the Pension Fund must continue," Yanukovych said.
