India is interested in liberalizing its visa regime with Ukraine, Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh has said.

"I passed to President Yanukovych some interesting ideas regarding simplified visa travel that could contribute to contacts between businessmen, students, and the peoples of both of our countries," he told journalists after a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on New Delhi on Monday.

The premier also said India and Ukraine could exchange experience in the sphere of nuclear safety and the prevention of nuclear disasters.

In particular, he noted that Ukraine gained significant experience in carrying out cleanup operations after the accident at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

In addition, Singh said that India is interested in cooperation with Ukraine in the spheres of supplies of fertilizers, pharmaceutics, the extraction industry, mechanical engineering, and scientific technologies.

As reported, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will be on a state visit to India on December 9-12.

During the visit, Yanukovych intends to discuss a range of issues of Ukrainian-Indian cooperation, especially in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas.

The program of the visit also involves Yanukovych's participation in the Ukrainian-Indian Business Forum, which aims to contribute to the development of direct contacts between the businessmen of Ukraine and India, as well as to the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.

A joint statement by the heads of states will be issued at the end of the visit, and a number of agreements are expected to be signed, in particular, on the provision of mutual legal assistance, cooperation in science and technology, nuclear safety, and health.
