United opposition reports violations on election day, says Turchynov

The election headquarters of the Batkivschyna United Opposition received reports about numerous irregularities during the vote at the parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

"Our operations headquarters have already reported many violations," chief of the united opposition's election staff Oleksandr Turchynov said at a briefing at the opposition's press center in Kyiv.

He noted that the campaigning for the Party of Regions continued on Saturday, when any political advertising is forbidden.

According to Turchynov, they documented cases of such campaigning in Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions.

He said that election observers from the United Opposition were not allowed to most polling stations in penitentiaries and detention centers.

"Prisoners were forced to vote without booths, under control of institutions' administration," Turchynov said.

The politician said that they also registered cases of bringing ballots out of polling stations.
