The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), with the assistance of the Minister of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces, who is the deputy chairman of the Central Military Medical Commission and decides on the suitability of military personnel for military service.

"According to the case materials, this official acquired unjustified assets worth more than $1 million during the full-scale invasion. At the same time, the defendant did not reflect the relevant property in his declaration and registered it in the name of his wife, daughter, sons and other third parties," the SBU said in a statement on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.

As the investigation established, during 2022-2024, the suspect acquired: a private house in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region, two apartments in Kyiv, one apartment in Odesa, two land plots in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region, a BMW X7 (2024), a BMW X7 (2022), a BMW X5 (2023), a BMW X3 (2022), as well as other property.

During the search, SBU investigators also found $152,000 and EUR 34,000.

A notice of suspicion is currently being prepared for the defendant under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Article 368-5 (illegal enrichment), Article 366-2 (declaration of false information).

The pretrial investigation is being carried out under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Sphere of Defense of the Prosecutor's General Office.
