Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko held a traditional meeting with foreign ambassadors and representatives of international organizations in Ukraine before the New Year holidays, congratulated them on the upcoming holidays and called on them to continue and strengthen their support for Ukraine, the press service of Kyiv City State Administration has said on Friday.

"It is very important that assistance to Ukraine continues and intensifies. [...] Today is a critical moment in the war. Russia is interested in a war of attrition. And with its resource, the risk of spreading hostilities to other European countries may become a reality," he said.

According to the mayor, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not let the catastrophic scenario for Ukraine to become a reality.

"But they need adequate and timely supplies of weapons. The duration of the war and the result will largely depend on the wisdom and foresight of politicians, their understanding of the situation and possible consequences. That is why I once again urge all partners, the civilized world, not to stop supporting Ukraine," Klitschko said.

He noted that Ukraine needs the latest weapons, in particular long-range weapons, as well as financial and economic support from partners. He also noted that for Ukraine this struggle is a civilizational choice.
