Ukraine is increasing the production of drones and this year the number of UAVs produced may reach 2 million units, said Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Hanna Hvozdiar.

"Of course, the needs of our troops are much greater than the financial capabilities of our country can cover. And even together with partners it would be hard for us. However, we are working in this direction. We are now increasing the production of drones. Everyone was very struck by the president's phrase about one million [drones]. And for some reason many people didn't believe it. However, I can assure you that in terms of production we are already well over one million. And I am sure that this year we will even reach the two million mark," Hvozdiar said during the Tuesday's national telethon.

According to her, today about 200 companies are involved in the production of various drones, while at the same time 60 companies are involved in government procurement orders.

The Deputy Minister said that it is possible to produce about 150,000 units of UAVs in a month using domestic capabilities. However, subject to additional funding, it is possible to increase their production multiple times.

As reported, on December 19, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in 2024, Ukraine would produce one million unmanned aerial vehicles.
