Pyshnyy from Morocco denies media reports about his alleged resignation letter

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Andriy Pyshnyy is working as part of the Ukrainian delegation at the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank in the Moroccan capital of Marrakech and denies reports in a number of media outlets that he allegedly wrote a letter of resignation.

"During a break between meetings, I was surprised to learn that I allegedly wrote a letter of resignation from the post of NBU governor and chose Marrakesh for this. This information is not true," Pyshnyy wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

"Nothing more than another fake. We will continue to work, we will definitely return to Ukraine with the results," the NBU governor said.

He said that on Tuesday, together with the Ukrainian delegation, he held meetings with IMF Executive Director Paul Hilbers and his deputy Luc Dresse, as well as with Director of the IMF European Department Alfred Kammer and his deputy Uma Ramakrishnan.

"There are positive reviews of the work of the NBU team during the year. Partners see our efforts to create positive macroeconomic trends, and most importantly, the results in the direction of macroeconomic stabilization and ensuring financial stability. Colleagues noted our professional actions in the transition to managed exchange rate flexibility," Pyshnyy said on Facebook.

He stressed that this adds to optimism ahead of the approaching second review of the EFF Extended Funding Programme.

"It is important that we managed to build a circle of trust among international partners. This was and remains one of my key priorities," the NBU governor said.

Pyshnyy emphasized the common understanding with partners of the challenge of maintaining sustainable and rhythmic financing for Ukraine. He expressed hope for the IMF's leadership in minimizing risks regarding the stability of revenues.

"For my part, I assure you that we are moving forward in the implementation of the IMF program, maximizing efforts to obtain a 100% positive result. Successfully passing the second revision is our priority," the NBU governor concluded.
