JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in 2020 purchased 28 new passenger cars using its own funds, and updated 1,406 applying various types of repairs.

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Thursday that last year 13 cars were completely refurbished, 439 cars passed first degree overhaul, and at the depot, the railway workers repaired 954 cars.

Ukrzaliznytsia also said that during the overhaul and refurbishment, the cars were completely renewed: new bodies, roof air conditioners, windows, control systems for the electrical equipment of the passenger carriage were installed, and dry closets were equipped.

In 2019, Ukrzaliznytsia accepted 18 new passenger cars into operation. In addition, in 2019, the company made an advance payment for 26 cars for 2020.

According to the law on the national budget of Ukraine for 2021, the national budget for the current year provides for the appropriation of UAH 4.5 billion for the development of passenger railway transportation, in particular, for the purchase of passenger cars and the modernization of the railway infrastructure.
