Ukraine's discount eurobonds placed with 9.1% yield

The yield of Ukraine's discount $725 million eurobonds was 9.1%, Deputy NBU Governor Oleh Churiy has said.

"The yield of our eurobonds has changed a lot recently. We saw the last placement by the Ministry of Finance, the yield has really grown: 9.1% for six months is a very high value," he said at a roundtable in Kyiv organized by the Financial club.

At the same time, Churiy said that the corresponding yield shows the real price of borrowing for Ukraine and other developing countries, according to which it is now possible to raise funds on the external loan market.

Ukraine last week entered the international capital market with private placement of the $725 million government external loan bonds. Semiannual discount bonds were placed at 95.551% of the face value.

According to the Ministry of Finance, this issuance is subscribed by worldwide leading investors who have reaffirmed their financial support to Ukraine, while volatile conditions continue to prevail in emerging credit markets.
