Moscow Exchange, software put on Ukrainian sanctions list

PJSC Moscow Exchange MICEX-RTS has been included in the updated list of legal entities, to which personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) are applied.

According to the document posted on the presidential website, in case of Moscow Exchange, the sanctions regime, in addition to blocking assets, restricting trade operations, also includes a ban on the transfer of technology and intellectual property rights, a ban for Ukrainian companies to use the electronic trading systems Plaza Software and Forts Software.

In addition, among the imposed restrictions for Moscow Exchange is the restriction or termination of provision of telecommunications services, the use of public telecommunications networks.

Sanctions were imposed for three years.

Moscow Exchange previously owned large stakes in two of the three leading Ukrainian stock exchanges - PFTS and Ukrainian Exchange, while its software was the basis for the software of the Ukrainian exchanges.

Moscow Exchange in 2016 withdrew from the capital of the Ukrainian stock exchanges, but representatives of the regulator - the National Commission on Securities and the Stock Market of Ukraine - express concern that the software of the Ukrainian exchanges still depends on Moscow Exchange.
