DTEK cuts coal production by 5.8%, electricity supply by 6.1% in nine months

The enterprises of DTEK energy holding (including the Russian mine directorate Obukhovskaya) in January-September 2017 reduced coal production by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2016, to 21.011 million tonnes, in particular extraction at its Ukrainian assets amounted to 18.819 million tonnes (8.7% down).

According to DTEK's press release, concentrate output for the nine months decreased by 9.2%, to 10.528 million tonnes, in particular output at third-party enrichment factories doubled, to 1.128 million tonnes.

Coal mining by Obukhovskaya mine for the nine months amounted to 2.192 million tonnes, concentrate output was 1.339 million tonnes.

Electricity output by DTEK in January-September 2017 decreased by 6.1%, to 26.855 billion kWh, in particular output at Botiyevska wind power plant increased by 10.3%, to 443.7 million kWh. The power units of DTEK Energy operating on gas coal increased output by 14.3%, to 19.8 billion kWh.

In general, the decrease in coal output by all DTEK power plants is due to the cessation of management of Zuyivska TPP and the suspension of operation at Prydniprovska and Kryvy Rih TPPs in April-June for preparation for the peak of summer energy consumption.
