Ukraine's GDP growing for six consecutive quarters - Poroshenko

Ukraine's economy has been growing for six consecutive quarters, and heads of companies record growth in optimistic expectations for the development of the macroeconomic situation, according to the polls of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"GDP has been growing for six quarters in a row after 14 quarters of decline. Signals we receive from business environment add confidence in the fact the economists are not mistaken in optimistic forecasts. The poll of companies' chiefs conduced every quarter by the National Bank shows growth of optimistic expectations both for the development of the macroeconomic situation and the financial position of the companies," Poroshenko said in his video message at the opening of the Ukrainian Financial Forum in Odesa on Thursday.

The president said that tough anti-crisis steps, macrofinancial stabilization, the reduction of tax burden, deregulation, anti-corruption measures, opening of new foreign markets, including thanks to the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Areas (DCFTA) – all these has cleaned up the way to restoration of the Ukrainian economy.

The president recalled that according to a study of the European Business Association (EBA), Ukraine's investment attractiveness index is not negative anymore and it is the highest in the past six years, including the pre-war period.

"The enterprises polled by the association plan to expand production next year, increase salaries and create new jobs," Poroshenko said.
