Businessman Bakhmatiuk ready for compromise with NBU on issue of repayment guarantees
Businessman Oleh Bakhmatiuk has stated he is ready for compromise with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on the issue of guarantees, he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"We offered an open amicable agreement with installments over seven years. If the National Bank wanted to return the money, it would sit down at the negotiating table, but if Valeriya Gontareva [the NBU head] wants to destroy the company, she is not interested in our proposals," he said.
According to him, he is also ready to strengthen collateral to the National Bank on the issue of guarantees.
"If the National Bank wants to change the terms, I am ready for negotiations. If it wants to increase the security, I'm ready to talk about it. Those UAH 37 billion of debt I allegedly owed is nonsense. The real total debt to the Individual Deposit Guarantee Fund and the National Bank is UAH 18-19 billion. Of this amount UAH 7 billion is my personal guarantee to the NBU, and still we need to talk with the fund," Bakhmatiuk said.
He also said that until now all talks with the National Bank on the issue of guarantees were fruitless.
