Ukrzaliznytsia head points out 'epidemic' among candidates for dismissal from company

Ukrzaliznytsia Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun has said that when it comes to speak about dismissal of employees of the central office it is impossible to dismiss them under Ukrainian law, because they are on a sick leave.

"Today we have an epidemic of pancreatitis at Ukrzaliznytsia with doctors' certificates, without tests, but with a diagnosis from private clinics. Why should be maintain the sector hospital if our people all of a sudden 'get weak' and apply for treatment just anywhere?" he said on Facebook.

He said there are resignation applications with an open date from some managers of Ukrzaliznytsia.

"When I agreed to work here I never thought that I would have to take this step. Someone says this is blackmail. Maybe, it is, but this is Ukraine. And as events here show they understand only this language. If they are not motivated to be effective and transparent in work, we will act in a way people have grown accustomed to?" Balczun said.

He said that he to work with top managers, medium-level managers, directors, heads of departments and chiefs who share his desire and vision of reforms at Ukrzaliznytsia.
