NBU expands list of grounds not to issue currency licenses

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has expanded a list of grounds not to issue general licenses for currency transactions to banks, the regulator has reported on its website.

The amendments to NBU acts are outlined in NBU resolution No. 380, which takes effect the day after its publication.

According to the document, the regulator can decide not to issue the general license for currency transactions if enforcement actions applied to the bank or fines during the period when the application to issue the license is heard.

The NBU can reject the bank's application to issue the license if the bank's ownership structure is declared non-transparent or the bank is declared troubled.

The central bank from September 12 permitted banks to re-register currency licenses without mentioning information about their location and revoked a requirement to receive a new general license if the location of the bank changed.
