Mariupol port cuts cargo transshipment by 30% in Jan-June

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) in January-June 2016 reduced cargo transshipment by 30% compared with January-June 2015, to 3.144 million tonnes.

According to data from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the period the port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 1.8%, to 2.653 million tonnes, significantly reduced imported cargo handling, to 30,700 tonnes, did not transship transit goods, while handled more than 460,000 tonnes of cabotage goods.

According to the types of cargo, the port in January-June reduced transshipment of liquid cargo by 18.5%, to 33,400 tonnes, dry bulk goods by 2.4 times, to 854,500 tonnes, packaged goods by 6.2%, to 2.257 million tonnes.

Mariupol maritime merchant port is one of the largest seaports in Ukraine. The port's handling capacity is more than 17 million tonnes of cargo per year. The port is open to ships with a total length of up to 240 meters, and a draught of up to 8 meters all year round. The port occupies 73.2 hectares with a total dock line length of 4.2 km.
