Mariupol seaport to invest UAH 800 mln in building grain handling complex

Mariupol maritime merchandise port seeks to invest UAH 800 million in building a grain handling complex with a projected annual capacity of 2.5 million tonnes. The works will start by the end of this summer.

"Now the project will be submitted for examination. After the examination we will start the works at once. We hope that by the end of summer we will start the works," the press service of the port told Interfax-Ukraine.

The grain handling complex will be built in two stages: the first one will include 10 silos with a capacity of 5,700 tonnes each and the total storing capacity of 57,000 tonnes and a grain drier with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes a day.

The second stage will have 13 silos with a capacity of 5,700 tonnes each and the total capacity of 74,000 tonnes. The terminal will have eight on-the-spot silos.

Mariupol port is one of the largest ports in Ukraine. The average depth at the port is 8.6 meters, which enables the port to accept vessels with draughts of up to eight meters and lengths of up to 250 meters. Its territory is 77.7 hectares. The length of the berth line is 4.2 kilometers (18 berths).
