Ukraine seeks to return to public loan market in 2018 – finance minister

Ukraine seeks to return to the public foreign loan markets in 2018, thanks to cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and conducting reforms, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said in Kyiv on Thursday.

He made the remarks at the conference "Week of Structural Reforms." The event was held in honor of (deceased Georgian businessman and reformer) Kakha Bendukidze.

"Ukraine must pay $18 billion in 208-2020," he said, explaining the necessity of the decision.

He said that investors should see prospects for the country's development. Ukraine needs to convince them that the country is trustworthy.

"We can stay without the IMF for a month or two, maybe even a year. However, we need a prospect… We would face crisis in several months without reforms," he said.
