Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine 34% up in Jan-Feb

Sales of new passenger cars in January and February 2016 rose by 34%, to 7,384, the Ukrautoprom association has reported.

The association said that Renault was the leader in sales over the period: sales grew by 56%, to 690 cars.

Toyota is second with 657 cars sold and a ruse of 88% in sales, and Nissan was third with a 2% rise in sales and 581 cars sold.

Russian Lada cars were fourth with 438 cars sold and Volkswagen was fifth with 416 cars sold (a rise of 35%).

The association said that in February sales of passenger cars grew by 44% year-over-year and by 32% on January 2016, to 4,201 cars, and Renault was the leader with 429 cars sold (a rise of 78% year-over-year and 64% up on January 2016). In January the brand was third.

Toyota, which was the leader in January, became second in February with 354 cars sold (a twice rise year-over-year and a 17% rise from January 2016).

Nissan was third with 299 cars sold, Lada was fourth with 250 cars sold and Skoda was fifth with 233 cars sold.

BMW was eighth with a rise of 3.3 times year-over-year, to 209 cars sold and Mercedes-Benz was ninth with sales growth of 3.3 times, to 202 cars.

ZAZ cars were thirteenth in February (141 cars sold, a rise of 8.5% year-over-year).

The Ukrautoprom association said that in February 2016 primary registration of new trucks and commercial vehicles rose by 13.6% year-over-year, to 486 vehicles and Renault was the leader with growth of 2.3 times in sales, to 110 vehicles.

New bus sales tripled in February 2016 on February 2015, but they fell by 9.3% on January 2016, to 97 buses and ATAMAN buses made by Cherkasy Bus are the leaders with 39 buses sold.
