Inter TV channel asking Poroshenko to protect it against pressure

The Inter TV Channel has appealed to Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko over the situation when the Azov Civil Corps obstructed the channel's work, which Inter regards as pressure.

The message posted on the website of Inter TV Channel says that on February 25 a group of some 50 individuals who introduced themselves as representatives of various civil society organizations, in particular the Azov Civil Corps, surrounded the channel's building blocking the exit and entry.

"As the result, they disrupted the work of TV crews, who were to go to film a report. The channel's staff was unable to get to their jobs. The channel's operation was stalled for over two hours," the statement reads.

In addition, the people who were obstructing the channel's work, "tried to enter the channel's territory, were throwing construction debris, spraying the channel's building with black paint," the Inter TV Channel said.

"We believe that these actions of people who obstructed the work of the channel, put psychological pressure on the employees of the TV channel," the statement says.

Inter has asked the head of state "not to leave the situation without his attention, to help prevent the obstruction of the work of the country's largest TV channel, and to give a legal assessment of what has happened."
