The government has approved the allocation of UAH 869 million for the implementation in 2016 of the state program of partial reimbursement for the cost of loans for thermal modernization and measures to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector in Ukraine, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Services Hennadiy Zubko has said.

"The government has approved a resolution, which allows to continue the implementation of the energy efficiency program in 2016. The program is in demand, therefore the allocation of UAH 700 million this year was approved to continue the program realization, as well as UAH 169 million which remained from the previous year. A total of UAH 869 million will be spent on loan compensation," Zubko said at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to the minister, in 2015 about 100,000 families participated in the state program for a partial compensation of the cost of loans for thermal modernization and improving energy efficiency in the housing sector of Ukraine.

"At the end of last year we observed the dynamics when three banks issued nearly 1,000 loans per day," the official added.
