Ukraine by May 1 suspends decision on applying reciprocal sanctions on Belarusian goods

The interagency commission for international trade on January 13, 2016 decided to suspend the decision to introduce the special duty of 39.2% of the customs value of some goods imported to Ukraine from Belarus until May 1, 2016, the announcement was published in the Uriadovy Kurier on Friday.

"The commission discussed the materials presented by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine on the results of holding consultations with authorized agencies of Belarus aimed at settling the dispute and the position of foreign economic operators in the confectionary and brewing sectors which initiated the investigation," the commission said.

As reported, on November 13, 2015 the commission decided to impose a special duty of 39.2% of the customs value of goods on imports from Belarus from January 20, 2016 in response to discriminatory and hostile actions on the part of Belarus concerning the legitimate rights and interests of Ukraine's foreign economic activity objects, namely confectionery and brewing companies.
