Georgia, Moldova, Latvia and Lithuania initiate memo of condemnation of Russian Constitutional Court's actions – Poroshenko

Presidents of the Constitutional Courts of Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia and Moldova have initiated a Memorandum of Condemnation of the Actions of the Russian Constitutional Court, which didn't prevent Russia from annexation of Crimea, the president's press service said.

This follows from the meeting of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Giorgi Papuashvili, with President of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania Dainius Žalimas, with President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia Aldis Laviņš and with President of the Constitutional Court of Moldova Alexandru Tănase, who arrived in Ukraine to participate in the International Scientific-Practical Conference on the Introduction of the Constitutional Claim in Ukraine, the Ukrainian president's press service said.

In a course of the meeting, the presidents said that the constitutional courts of their countries don't stand aside of the processes running in Ukraine.

"This year we initiated the so-called Batumi process to condemn the actions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, which could have stopped the annexation of Crimea, but hadn't done that. We decided not to remain silent," a president's press service quotes President of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania Dainius Žalimas as saying.

"The act of aggression and gross violation of the international law shouldn't be left without attention, at least of the judicial community," President of the Constitutional Court of Moldova Alexandru Tănase added.

According to him, lawyers from other countries also support the Memorandum of Condemnation of Actions of the Russian Constitutional Court.
