Ukraine has reduced the amount of gas it is receiving from Gazprom to a minimum, but even so the prepaid amount will run out in a matter of days, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller told journalists.

"The main problem with gas supplies to Ukraine is our Ukrainian partners' shortage of financial resources. Ukraine is taking less than 5 million cubic meters of gas a day. That will enable Ukraine to extend the possibility of supplies for a certain amount of time. However, even at that miniscule level of gas offtake, the prepaid volume is sufficient only for four days. We have no information concerning Naftogaz Ukrainy plans to make additional payment in the near future," Miller said.

Naftogaz's gas offtake was about 40 mcm a day at the beginning of November; that volume had fallen 90% as of the latest accounting date (November 14).
