Kazakhstan, Ukraine agree to mutually supply military products

Kazakhstan and Ukraine have agreed to mutually supply military products, the Kazakh Defense Ministry has reported.

The supplies are to be provided as part of an agreement to cooperate in the aviation sector signed between Kazakhstan Aviation Industry LLP and the Ukrspecexport, a company which works on imports and exports of military and special purpose products and services.

The agreement opens up new opportunities for the defense industries of the two countries, the ministry said.

Kazakhstan-Ukraine cooperation in the aviation sector will cover several areas.

In particular, a service center will be opened in Astana to maintain and repair Antonov planes, as well as a regional center to repair aircraft engines made by Motor Sich JSC.

It is also planned to replace the engines of An-2 planes with modified and improved versions, to upgrade the An-2 aircraft to An-2-100 aircraft, and to organize an industrial assembly of MS-14 turboprop engines for installation on modernized aircraft.

The plans also include the joint development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles for military and civilian use, and the supply, repair and maintenance of aircraft simulators.
