Kyiv airport stops Transaero services due to debts

The Zhuliany Kyiv International Airport, denied departure to a Transaero, airplane which was supposed to fly from Kyiv to Moscow on October 6 due to the carrier owing the airport back pay for services.

The press service of the airport told Interfax that ground services stopped providing support for Transaero flights. These services can be resumed after the company pays off its debts, or part of the debt according to the payment schedule. According to the online departures table of the airport, Transaero flights from Moscow to Zhuliany and back have been canceled.

As of September 23, 2015, Transaero owed the Kyiv airport $649,254. The airport said that if the payments on the debt are not made then it will be forced to stop providing services for Transaero.

However, on September 28, it became known that the Kyiv airport had continued to service Transaero since it had repaid part of the debt on schedule. As the airport's press service said then, the company needed to repay debts for July of $127,485, which it did.

Additionally, the company racked up additional debts for services in August of $319,337, and should have repaid the debt in two payments, on or before October 5 - 12.

Transaero also owes the Kyiv airport $202,432 for September which it should pay before October 19-26.
