UNDP, Japanese govt to provide $1.67 mln of grants to Ukrainian displaced persons to develop business

The UN Development Program (UNDP) with the financial support of the Japanese government will provide $1.67 million in grants to Ukrainian internally displaced persons (IDP) and residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to develop or restore their businesses.

The Holos Ukrainy publication reported this on Wednesday that CCC Creative Center (Kyiv) in partnership with Gorenie charitable foundation (Pavlohrad) and IDP Ukraine Organization (Kyiv).

According to the report, participants of the tender to receive grants can be only individuals who have official IDP status and live in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kyiv, Luhansk, Odesa, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, as well as residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The largest grant per businessperson is UAH 225,000 – given to persons who plan to create at least four jobs. UAH 150,000 will be provided for the creation of three jobs, UAH 100,000 – two jobs and UAH 75,000 – one job.

"Businesspeople who receive the grant are to invest their funds of at least 25% of the project cost (in monetary or other form)," reads the report.

Bids can be submitted to CCC Creative Center until October 25, 2015.

The grant program is being realized under UNDP projects to provide economic and social aid to Ukrainian IDPs and to restore Donbas. The total budget of the project is $11.32 million.
